Kernel Panic - Nothing but a shell


i know you're mature, you are the future
in my mind i still keep this outdated picture
as i look over, from a few steps closer
i see the way beyond the surface leads to nowhere

you're so exciting, however, i think
your wits end where your superficiality begins
seems like you're special, but you'll be never
you try to sustain the illusion but it's awkward

don't misunderstand me, i don't say you're boring
what i want to tell you is just you're not as good as you think
don't you see what i see? that false image's not working
you'll be a drop in the bucket if you keep pretending

i used to deify you, but it's over
your perfection fades as i'm getting older
behind the mask of "everything goes well"
you're nothing but an endlessly empty shell
