Excellent heavy symphonic band headed by the extraordinary musician and guitar player ARJEN LUCASSEN. Album after album, the band kept consistent musical creativity always topped with sci-fi oriented lyrics. Outstanding and innovative keyboard work performed by several musicians like ERIK NORLANDER and LUCASSEN himself among others give AYREON's music a special touch, but the very best is yet to come: the vocals are always performed by several different people, and names like FISH, Neil MORSE and Damian WILSON feature among others. Need to say anything else?

Egyik kedvenc albumom az Ayreontól a The Universal Migrator Part I. Írtam a honlapomra egy kis szösszenetet erről az albomról, amit ezennel közzéteszek, hátha meghozza valakinek a kedvét a meghallgatáshoz:
AYREON: The Universal Migrator Part I. - The Dream Sequencer
Ez a mestermű egy dupla album első darabja. Elkövetője egy holland gitáros-zeneszerző, Arjen Lucassen. A lemez műfaja progresszív rock. A klasszikus gitárhangzást modern elektronikus hangszerek színesítik, a dob azonban kizárólag élő, nincsenek hangminták, loop-ok. Vendégénekesek működnek közre, szinte minden számot más énekel, férfiak, nők vegyesen.
Koncept-albumról van szó, a dalok összefüggő történetet mesélnek el.
2048-ban vagyunk, a Marson. Lucassen dalszövegeiben keveredik a science fiction és az ezotéria. A történet szerint az emberiség kolóniát alapított a Marson a XXI. század első felében, de 2048-ban atomháború tört ki a Földön, és a bolygó élővilága megsemmisült. A Marson rekedt kolónia tagjai (lévén a kolónia még nem volt önellátó), a Földi szállítmányok nélkül gyakorlatilag éhenhaltak (szerintem Lucassen sok Philip K. Dick-et olvasott :)). Az utolsó túlélő Ayreon, aki gyermekkorában apjával és nővérével érkezett a vörös bolygóra. A kolóniának van egy szerkezete, az úgynevezett Álom Szekvenszer, amit ha rákötnek egy ember agyára, akkor a gép álomképek segítségével visszarepíti a delikvenst fiatalabb korába, vagy akár előző életeibe is. Ayreon, mint az emberi nem utolsó élő tagja, rákapcsolja magát a Szekvenszerre és elkezdődik a fantasztikus utazás. Az első cd egészen az első ember Földi megjelenéséig követi nyomon az eseményeket.
A második cd-n visszamehetünk egészen az ősrobbanásig. Aki azonban az album első részének progresszív zenei világát szeretné viszonthallani a második részben is, az nagyot fog csalódni. Ugyanis a kettes cd-n kőkemény speed metált fog találni. Lucassen szereti kipróbálni magát különböző zenei stílusokban. Sajnos a második lemez zenei anyaga műfajában nem kiemelkedő, ellentétben az első résszel, amit viszont kifejezetten ajánlok minden igényes ízlésű zenerajongónak.
