Buckethead valójában egy Brian Caroll nevezetû gitáros, akirõl korábban (1989-ben) kép jelent meg a Guitar for the Practicing Musician címû amerikai gitárújságban. A kép alatti rövid bemutató szerint Brian Caroll 20 éves (1989-ben), kaliforniai lakos. Zeneileg hatással voltak rá: Michael Jackson, Paul Gilbert, Louis Johnson, Joe Satriani, Shawn Lane, Jennifer Batten. Bár több hangszeren játszik, leginkább az elektromos gitár mesteri használatáról ismert. Az egyik legkarakteresebb újító gitáros, egyéni gondolkodásmódot tükrözõ dallamvilágát, fénysebességû riffjeit, 8 újjas szólóit és arpeggióit elmondása szerint a hullámvasút és egyéb vidámparki játékok, valamint szörnyeteges filmek inspirálják.
