1985-ben (Madre Xamã néven) alakult brazil Thrash Metal zenekar. Még ebben az évben MX-re rövidítették a banda nevét - állítólag a Braziliában nagyon erõs Katolikus egyház nyomására. Ezt a teóriát a csapat tagjai több interjúban is cáfolták. Az õ magyarázatuk - miszerint "jobban hangzik az MX mint a Madre Xamã" - kicsit nehezebben hihetõ.
1990-ben föloszlottak, 1996-ban újáalakultak. A banda azóta is együtt van, de 2000 óta nem jelentettek meg semilyen anyagot.
