A Paul Speckmann bõgõs/énekes vezette chicagói Master trió - Chris Mittlebrun-gitár, Bill Schmidt-dob - kétségkívül a Death Metal irányzat úttörõi közé tartozik. A kultikus hírnévvel kitüntetett banda 1984-ben készült el elsõ demójával, amely a Death Metal mûfaj egyik legkorábbi alapkõtételeként maradt emlékezetes. A gárda jelentõs underground sikerei ellenére rövidesen Deathstrike néven mûködött tovább, ám lemezszerzõdéshez nem sikerült jutniuk. Az eredménytelenség hatására a trió hamarosan beszüntette közös munkáját, Paul Speckmann azonban elõbb Funeral Bitch, majd Abomination név alatt újabb bandákat indított.1990-ben az Abomination-nel végre tetõ alá került a német Nuclear Blast kiadóval kötött szerzõdés, minek eredményeként a korai Master demó is újra reflektorfénybe került. Végül a froridai Morrisound stúdió mélyén újra felvették a legendás kazetta anyagát, miután '90 végén az elsõ Master album. Mr. Speckmann ezek után Paul Masvidal (ex-Cynic, Death) gitáros, illetve Aaron Nickeas (Abomination) dobos részvételével új felállást rögtönzött és 1992-ben elkészült a kettes számú Master opus, "On The 7th Day God Created Master" címmel.A munka gõzerõvel folyt tovább a Speckmann mûvekben, a legkülönfélébb nevek alatt (Deathstrike, Abomination, Speckmann) jelentek meg produkciók. A '90-es évek közepén azonban a nyersanyag elfogyott, az ötlettár kiürült, aminek következtében az összes project beszüntette a munkát. 1998 végén a Master váratlanul új anyaggal tért vissza, amely a "Faith Is In Season" címet viseli.Speckmann ezek után számos egyéb projektjére fókuszált, beleértve a feltámasztott Abomination-t is, és csatlakozott a cseh Krabathor-hoz.
