Történet:

Helen Folasade (angol jelentése: honour confers a crown, a becsület koronát adományoz) Adu 1959. január 16-án született Ibadanban, Nigériában egy angol nõvér és egy nigériai közgazdaságtan tanár második gyermekeként.
Nyugat Afrikából 4 éves korában települt édesanyjával és bátyjával Angliába, Essex tartományba. Fiatal korában sokat olvasott és élénken érdeklõdött a divat és a soul zene iránt. 1977-ben költözött Londonba, ahol a St. Martin Fõiskolára járt divattervezõként.
1982-ben Ray St. John "Pride" együttesének énekese lett, aki röviddel ezután kilépett, és Sade a többi taggal megalapította a jelenlegi formációt. Még ebben az évben felléptek Ronnie Scott's Club-ban Londonban, '83-ban pedig Danceteria Club-ban New York-ban, ahol felfigyeltek rájuk a lemezkiadók. '84-ben adták ki elsõ lemezüket, amelyet számos színvonalas album követett.
'85-ben felléptek a "Live Ade" londoni korncerten.
Sade szerepelt a '86-os Dawid Bowie filmben, Absolute Begginers.
Sikereik mutatója, hogy 2002-ben a Madison Square Garden-ben telt ház elõtt adtak nagy sikerû koncertet, ahol a Lovers Live koncertalbum felvételei is készültek.
