Very good band from Italy, maybe the one with the most notable discography and continuity in time. The style can be described like progressive metal, in the vein of bands like QÜEENSRYCHE and FATES WARNING, with good keyboards and nice guitar work, but with a very personal touch. TIME MACHINE was formed in the first 90´s in Italy by bassist and keyboard player Lorenzo Deho, who use to have a new singer in every album they published.
First TIME MACHINE album "Project: Time Scanning" was published in 1993 with Andrea Ruggeri on vocals and Joe Taccone on guitars (who still now being an original member of the band), after this band publish a limited edition Ep only avaliable in Japan called "Dungeons Of the Vatican", who was a re-recorded version of the first song they made. Only a few months later, 1995´s "Act II: Galileo" was published, and till now this is the most know and quality album made by TIME MACHINE, it was a concept album about the life of Galileo, with great compositions and also a nice art-work! Andrea Ruggeri was replaced in this album by Folco Orlandini, who was the most loved TIME MACHINE´s singer by fans of the band, this album receive a very good reviews and was the first time that the band will play live outside of Italy.

In 1997 another line-up change happens, the band released an Ep ("Shades Of Time"), with a new singer "Morby" who late will play in also italian prog band LABYRINTH. This Ep includes new songs, a BLACK SABBATH cover and some old songs recorded. 1998 was the great return of this band to concept albums, "Eternity Ends" was published (with another line-up change, now singer was Nick Fortarezza); this album follow the sound of "Act II: Galileo", concept album with very good keyboard passage and includes the fantastic mini-opus "Behind The Cross", as curiosity two singles were released before and after the release of "Eternity Ends" called "Secret Oceans: Part 1& 2", which contains demo material and some reworked songs like a great version of "I Believe Again" with Andre Matos of brazilians ANGRA on vocals. Two years after this great work a double cd compilation was released, "Hidden Secrets" contains two cd´s of rare songs, demos, unreleased songs, and re-works of songs choosen by fans of the band in a previous forum.
In 2002 and after 4 years without release a new studio album "Evil" was released, with two changes, one of line-up (as always), Pino Tozzi was now the singer, and the other change was the sound, more orchestral very near to his first work "Time Scanning" and with Eddy Antonini as guest on keyboards. This album was preceded with the release of an EP called "Aliger Daemon" wich contains two "Evil" songs an old re-worked stuff, being this two releases the last ones till the date. As a curiosity, same year of the publish of "Hidden Secrets" compilation, a side-project called KHALI was published with the old "Galileo" singer Folco Orlandini, with a sound very similar to QÜEENSRYCHE's "Empire".
Time Machine is the name of an Italian Progressive metal band formed in 1992. They've since released four studio albums and several EPs.
Time Machine from Italy have been in metal business for 12 years now. So they have a huge fanbase in whole of Europe and they have given happiness to us with a few albums. Reviviscence does that as well: A calm intro, I don´t think about anything evil... And suddenly there is that speedy song called „Rotten Souls“! What a riff, what a singer! Wow! Afterwards they go on with the title track, which is one of the best songs of the whole album.
And then, oh, what´s that: a stopgap. About 40 seconds 5 keys from the synthi piano. Aha. But then there comes a song called “Angel Lucifer”, where you can feel lost inside. Yes, and then there is a gain a stopgap. This time it is one of synthesizers. After that “Grains of Sand”, a song which is very atmospheric, which begins calm to develop and finally grows to a monster. Listen to that! And guess, what know comes... Yes, you are right, a stopgap: acoustic guitars with searush. Afterwards a song called “Tears of Jerusalem”. Could sound oriental, if you look at the title. And it does. But no break for the headbanging – no, not at all. And finally again a stopgap. Oh, not at all. This is called an instrumental then, I guess. J But this is very good, I have to confess. Even very great! With “Seeds of Revolution” and “Revelation” you can bang your head!! Yeah, that rocks! But they don´t rock alone. No, the band is supported by a few well-known musicians: Rafael Bittencourt (guitar) and Kiko Loureiro (guitar) in Angra, Fabio Ribeiro (keyboard) in Shaman, Mariano Groce (guitar) in Concept and Matteo Giuliani (backing vocals) in Snake Eyes (now Edge of forever).
And the thing here was produced by Max Lotti and Lorenz Deho. That concept album is about the evil around us and the search for a solution.
Totally seen: Progressive Metal at its best! Next time, please, no instrumentals between the songs. These just interrupt the „right“ songs. But this album is very complex and melodic. Great, how they play with keyboard effects. Just the drums could have more power sometimes. That sounds too often too artificial...
