Dragged before the judge I had only just turned 16
State appointed lawyer stunk like wine and apathy
When the gavel fell, no one believed what I had done
They fucking locked me down til I was 21
When I look back I can't help but feel like shit
Young and dumb but she didn't deserve this
I just got word that she died in a home
30, diseased, pregnant and alone
The first 6 months I spent in the box
3 hots, a cot, what more could I want
23 hours a day in isolation
Time well spent hammered down on medication
The guards picked me out and the beatings began
Pepper spray, torture me, seemingly endless rape, solitary.......for weeks at a time
I'd pray to God for the strength to commit suicide for crimes against my mother I was being forced to pay
"We reap what we sow", I think I heard my momma say
I miss the sunshine and the graves on the hillside |
